Beverly Ann Hinds, daughter of Jewell C. and Rosa Mae (Hicks) Hinds, was born January 14, 1938 at Auburn, Nebraska. The youngest of three children, she was baptized at the Evangelical United Brethren Church at Howe, Nebraska, which became the United Methodist Church. , by Rev. Harry Keefer.
Beverly received her education at Rosemont Rural School (District 40), Auburn High School and Peru State Teachers College. She taught school in the Westside School System, District 66 Omaha, Nebraska.
On July 6, 1958, Beverly was united in marriage to Herman A. Sohnholz at the Evangelical United Brethren Church, which later became the United Methodist Church at Howe. The couple then moved to Killeen, Texas where Herman was stationed with the U.S. Army. They returned to the Auburn community in 1959 after Herman’s tour of duty. Two children, Dwaine and Diane Mae, were born to this union.
In October of 1958 Beverly was confirmed in the Ft. Hood Lutheran Church at Killeen, Texas and became a member there. She transferred her membership to St. Paul (Hickory Grove) Lutheran Church, Auburn, NE, in 1959. Beverly was an active member of the Ruth-Naomi Circle and held various offices in that organization. She taught Sunday School, Junior Lutheran classes and Bible School. Beverly became an associate member of LCMC in 2005.
After a year’s employment in Auburn they began a farming operation in Richardson County, moving to their home west of Auburn in 1965. They continued in the business of agriculture and raising livestock until retirement. Beverly and Herman enjoyed their travels, which made many wonderful memories.
Beverly enjoyed the Community Club of which she was a member for many years. She valued the opportunity of serving as a member of the advisory board for Nemaha County Good Samaritan, Assisted Living at Longs Creek and In Home Health Care. Beverly loved spending time with her family and especially treasured time and activities with her grandchildren.
Beverly passed away Monday, March 16, 2015 at Josie Harper Hospice House in Omaha, Nebraska. She was preceded in death by her husband Herman, her parents, infant sister Bonnie Mae, and brother Wayne and sister-in-law June Hinds, brother-in-law Rudolph and sister-in-law Della Sohnholz, and nephew David Hinds.
Those left to treasure her memories include her son and daughter-in-law Dwaine and Diane Sohnholz of Omaha; daughter and son-in-law Diane and Jeff Jones of Omaha; grandchildren Caleb, Elizabeth, Kaylee, Denae, and Shayla Jones; brother-in-law Roland and sister-in-law Cookie Sohnholz of Pine, CO; nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.
