Betty Jane Smith, one of four children of James H. and Lois V. (King) Smith, was born June 28, 1946 in Hamburg, Iowa.
In December of 1966, Betty was united in marriage to Alfred Roze in Nebraska City, Nebraska. The couple was blessed with one child, David Dean Roze.
Betty worked at the Campbell Soup Company in Tecumseh for many years, but the job she enjoyed the most and was best at was being a housewife and mother. Betty was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church. She enjoyed knitting and reading. Betty especially enjoyed reading her romance novels.
On Tuesday, August 9, 2011, Betty passed away at her home at the Westbury Heights Apartments in Auburn, having reached the age of 65 years, 1 month, and 12 days. In addition to her parents, Betty is preceded in death by her sisters Martha and Carolyn, brother Jim, and infant great-grandson Aidan Roze.
Betty is survived by her husband Alfred of Auburn; son David D. Roze and Shirley Roof of La Vista; grandson David S. Roze of Lincoln; other relatives and many friends.
Memorial services were Saturday, August 13, 2011 at Hemmingsen Funeral Home in Auburn, officiated by Rev. Ken Miller. Special music was played, and inurnment of ashes was in Sheridan West Cemetery near Auburn.
