Albert James Ramsey, one of three children of James and Mercedes (Engles) Ramsey, was born July 28, 1960, at Auburn, Nebraska. Bert grew up and attended school in Dawson, Nebraska, graduating from Dawson Verdon High School in 1979. He was baptized and confirmed at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Dawson.
At an early age, Bert began helping his father on the family farm, raising livestock and farming. After high school, he attended Southeast Community College in Beatrice, receiving his degree in Agricultural Business. His love of farming brought him back to Auburn, where he started his own cattle operation, while also working hand in hand with his father at Dawson.
On Saturday, October 13, 2018, while doing what he loved, Bert passed away unexpectedly at the age of 58 years, 2 months, and 15 days. He was preceded in death by his parents.
Bert is survived by his sisters Ann Ramsey of Tecumseh, Dollie and husband Terry Dettmann of Arnold, MO; step-mother Karen Ramsey of Dawson; step-siblings Denise Arington, John and wife Mary Sue Martin, Laura Pagnano, Lance Martin; other relatives and friends.
A memorial service will be held Monday, October 22, 10:30 a.m. at Hemmingsen Funeral Home in Auburn. Burial of ashes will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery near Auburn. No visitation is planned.
