Barbara (Clark) Haynes

November 21, 1936 — April 3, 2015

Barbara Belle (Clark) Haynes, one of four children of Charles and Dorothy Amelia (Gess) Clark, was born November 21, 1936 at Dunbar, Nebraska. She attended school in Dunbar, where she graduated from high school.

On June 23, 1958 Barbara was united in marriage to Larry Haynes at the Presbyterian Church in Dunbar. Five children: Susan, Lon, Charles, Sterling, and Dan were born to this union.

Barbara worked for many years in the food service industry, baking for a bakery and cooking at Arbor Manor Steakhouse in Auburn, Nebraska. She also worked as an operator for LT&T and a receptionist for a physician’s office in Lincoln, but her favorite job of all was taking care of her grandkids. She always enjoyed having them around, as well as the kids in the neighborhood.

When she was able, Barbara enjoyed gardening, and always enjoyed a game of pitch, playing bingo, or just having coffee with friends and family. One of her great joys was watching her sons during their wrestling matches.

Sometime after Larry passed in September of 1996, Barbara moved to Beatrice, Nebraska, where her daughter lived. In 2004 she moved back to Auburn and became a resident of the Good Samaritan Society. She enjoyed the activities there, and was always very grateful for the wonderful care she received from the staff.

Barbara passed away at Good Sam on Friday, April 3, 2015 at the age of 78 years, 4 months, and 13 days. In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister Linda Yank and brother Sterling Clark.

Those left to remember her loving ways include her daughter and son-in-law Susan and Thomas Lister of Auburn; sons and daughters-in-law Lon Haynes and friend Karen Keller of Savannah, MO; Charles and Marlena Haynes of Auburn; Sterling and Kim Haynes of Garden City, MO; Dan and Leslie Haynes of Griswold, IA; grandchildren Dawn, Mark, Brandi, Chans, Makenzie, Levi, Chelsea, Derek, Darian, Deidre, Austan, Brittan, and Grant; great-grandchildren Jon, Nicholas, Benjamin, Izaiah, and Zella; sister Mona Stalnaker of Fredonia, KS; other relatives and friends.
