Arlene Lynch

November 18, 1923 — April 6, 2016

Edith Arlene Fellers was born November 18, 1923 to Ernest and Edith Fellers in Tecumseh, Nebraska.

The family moved to Auburn, Nebraska where Arlene received her formal education. In high school she accompanied several musical groups, played clarinet in the marching band and other activities.

After graduation she attended business school in Omaha. Along with a couple of friends, she moved to Long Beach California where she worked as an executive assistant to an admiral in a naval shipyard. It was there she met her future husband, William M. Lynch Jr.

They were married in Long Beach on June 20, 1945. After his military discharge, they lived in Marshall, Arkansas before settling in Auburn, Nebraska. The couple was blessed with four children; Rebecca, William, Kathryn and Lee. Arlene worked as a dental assistant, secretary in an abstract office and for many years for Bill and Betty Ratliff. Arlene was a lifelong member of the United Methodist Church in Auburn. She taught Sunday School and served on numerous committees. She was active in the Camp Fire organization and served as a leader of both Blue Birds and Camp Fire Girls.

Arlene loved to bake. She was an excellent seamstress who could see a dress in a store window, make her own pattern and duplicate the dress. She and Bill loved listening to Big Band music and dancing. She was an avid reader and loved to work crossword puzzles.

Arlene entered the Good Samaritan Center in April 2007 where she passed away on Wednesday, April 6, 2016. She is survived by a daughter Rebecca of Lincoln, NE, daughter-in-law Barb of Auburn, daughter Kathryn Hansen and son-in law Randy, who she loved as one of her own, Lenexa, KS, and Lee Lynch and daughter-in-law Mary of Auburn, three grandchildren, Joanna Lynch-Gillespie (Joel) Jennifer Gooding (Eric) Belton MO, Jeff Lynch (Shannon) Alma NE and great grandchildren Connor and Kyleigh Gooding and Creighton and Bentley Lynch, other relatives and friends. Arlene was preceded in death by her son, William M. Lynch III, her husband William M. Lynch Jr., brother Lloyd Fellers, parents Ernest and Edith Fellers, and sisters in law Jane Stewart and Lenora Fellers.

A memorial service will be Thursday, April 14, 10:30 a.m. at First United Methodist Church in Auburn. Burial of ashes will follow in Sheridan West Cemetery near Auburn. Visitation, no viewing or family, will be at the funeral home Wednesday 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.
