Aralon Oestmann

Aralon Wayne Oestmann, son of Arnold and Junita (Michel) Oestmann, was born October 27, 1945 in Auburn, Nebraska. He was one of five children. Aralon was baptized November 18, 1945 and confirmed April 10, 1960, both at St. Paul Lutheran (Hickory Grove) Church. He attended Hickory Grove and Muddy Creek rural schools before attending Johnson High School.

On June 15, 1974 Aralon was united in marriage to Kathleen Gauchat at Hickory Grove Church. They were blessed with three children: Trevor, Jamie, and Heather. They made their home in Johnson.

Following high school Aralon worked for Louis Haack at the Johnson Lumber Company. He then worked for Laverne Michel and Michel Construction until 1983, when he was afflicted with Rheumatoid Arthritis.

Aralon served for six years with the Army National Guard out of the Auburn Armory until his honorable discharge in 1971. He was a member of St. Paul Lutheran (Hickory Grove) Church, and was an ?Exhausted Rooster? of the Johnson Area Jaycees. He was very proud of his ?72 Chevelle, and loved to tinker with it and drive it.

Due to illness, Aralon entered the Johnson County Hospital on June 12, 2009, and was transferred from there to the Nebraska Heart Hospital in Lincoln, Nebraska. He passed away there on Thursday, June 25, 2009 at the age of 63 years, 7 months, and 29 days. He was preceded in death by his parents, an infant brother, sister Connie Simpson, and sister-in-law Juliann Gauchat.

Aralon is survived by his wife Kathy of Johnson; sons Trevor of Johnson, Jamie and wife Melissa of Papillion; daughter Heather and husband Bill Koppelmann of Julian; grandchildren Davissen Runde, Hunter and Colton Koppelmann; sister Lois Podendorf of Beatrice; brother Larry and wife Beverly Oestmann of Eagle; brothers-in-law John (Herb) Simpson of Raymond, Gary and wife Sandy Gauchat of Lincoln, Rick and wife Ruby Gauchat of Iowa, Daryl Gauchat of Auburn, Rodney Gauchat of Nemaha; sisters-in-law Rosemary Gray of Pennsylvania, Teresa Stephens of Tennessee, Becky Gauchat of Brownville; many cousins, nieces and nephews, other relatives, and friends.
